Introducing ClassDo Learning Analytics - visualise your students' learning in real time effortlessly

Want to better understand how well your students are doing in your class, how engaged they are and how actively learning they are between lessons? Check out your organisation's new learning analytics dashboard. You can now view your students' activity and interaction with teaching materials even when the class is over. Just click on Learning Analytics on your dashboard to access. Do note that this feature is only available for roles assigned with viewing permissions.

ClassDo will be rolling out a series of releases for learning analytics. To help our educators to track each learner's individual progress easily and to improve learning outcomes with meaningful data. In this beta version, educators will have basic insights on Room and Content Library usage. In time to come we will be including more metrics with each release. These will capture real-time learning data in and outside of live lessons, making it effortless for educators to understand their learners' progress.

There are two ways to clear public chat messages; either via the chat window view from inside of the room or via the organisation view. Move and copy content to/ from different desks, groups and rooms

It is now possible for you to move or copy any document or sketchpad (complete with all your annotations) to other desks, groups or even other rooms! During a live session, you can now easily move content to another part of the room even if it was originally stored in someone's desk or a group. You can choose to copy it over instead if you wish to keep a copy of the content in its original location.

You can also skip the hassle of re-uploading the same document to multiple rooms by only uploading it once, then copying it to all your rooms at the same time from the content library!

New invites/ sign-ups by mobile phone number no longer supported

To make joining ClassDo and your meetings easier for new users, we have disabled sign-ups and invites via mobile! This change will not affect existing users who have already set up their log-in via mobile.

To invite new users to sign up for ClassDo or to join your meetings, simply invite them via their email addresses. Just note that Gmail users will be on-boarded without the need for verification, while non-Gmail users will need to check their inbox for a verification code.

Default group in rooms renamed "Main Room" for better clarity

The default main group of every room has now been renamed "Main Room" to make sure there is no ambiguity! This name change is reflected both in the room and in the content library. There are no other changes to the function of the groups or group folders.

Upload files up to 100 MB

You can now upload PDF and image files up to 100 MB each, up from the previous 50 MB. For files bigger than 100 MB, try compressing your file size to below 100 MB before uploading them into the Content Library.

Engage your room members by launching one of ClassDo's quick polls! Quick polls let your room members give you instant responses to a question or express their mood by pointing at their answer on their own videoscreens. See at a glance how many members and who they are in each Group

Now you can know exactly how many members there are in each breakout Group at any one time and who they are, without having to be in the same Group as them. Simply look at the number display beside each group name at the top of your virtual room screen. Mouse over the Group name to see who's in the Group. No more worries about leaving anyone behind in a Group, or waiting for a member in the wrong Group!

Better control over who can toggle between videochat and content views

With a new permission box under Organisation Seettings > Roles to manage who can open and close the videochat view in the virtual room, you can minimise accidental switching to the videochat view in the midst of a live lesson, presentation or collaboration. By default, only the roles who currently have the permission to switch pages, files, desks, groups and room sync modes can open/close videochat view.

In a noisy environment or don't have your headphones with you, or you don't wish others to see the environment you are in? You can now turn off your camera and/or microphone before you join the room, and join the session discreetly with your video and/or audio already muted.

Quick action bar for content files in the virtual room

Want to hand out, duplicate or download a file in the virtual room? The previous [...] icon to access the content settings and tools menu has given way to a more obvious quick action bar below each content tab, so that it looks and works just like the content menu within the Organisaton Content Library. To rename your file, just click your cursor anywhere on the file name in the quick action bar. To see the full menu, click the small arrow next to the file name.

Room sync settings streamlined to Enable Sync and Disable Sync modes

There used to be three different room sync modes - Presentation, Collaboration Sync and Disabled Sync. To simplify how you, as educators, can control what everyone views in the room at any one time, we have streamlined them down to two modes only - Enable Sync and Disable Sync.

Enable Sync mode: default room sync setting for all rooms. Use this to lock everyone’s view to the tabs/contents/pages you are on, so you know everyone is looking at the same thing as your screen.

Under this mode, by default, your students will NOT be able to open new tabs, switch tabs, and create new contents in the main room. They will also NOT be able to switch to breakout groups or their own desks, unless you initiate the switch. You can modify these permissions under Organisation Settings > Role, but please note that they will apply for all members organisation-wide with the same role in all rooms.

Disable Sync mode: select this to let everyone toggle freely and independently between different files/tabs/pages and between Room and Desk views without affecting one another. This is the same as the old Disabled Sync mode.

Allow others to edit your files on-the-spot in the virtual room

For your convenience, we have extended the Share Content feature that was introduced in the Organisation Content Library earlier in January, into the virtual room. This means you can now also allow other room members - either by members' names or by member roles - to edit individual files instantly while you are in the midst of a live session within the virtual room, just by changing "can view" to "can edit". Just click the blue Edit Rights button on the top right of your content to modify the permissions.

Suspend an organisation member's account temporarily

As the organisation owner or admin, you may suspend an organisation member's account temporarily. During the suspension, the member will still be able to log into his or her ClassDo account and see the organisation and rooms he or she belongs to, but will not be able to access the Content Library nor enter any virtual room in your organisation until you reactivate his or her account. Account suspension is effective organisation-wide.

Share content with flexible custom file access permission for each file

Find it very inflexible to file your teaching and learning resources in the traditional folder system that is based on one single parameter? On ClassDo, you can create and add multiple tags to any file that you upload or create, eg topic, subject, session number. When you wish to retrieve the file in future, you can find it more easily by search-and-filtering through the topic or subject tag, even if you cannot remember which session you had used it.

Send text messages and broadcast announcements to everyone via new room chat

You can now send text mesages and broadcast announcements in the new room chat for everyone to see. Normal text messages will be shown in the room chat panel on the right of the virtual room screen. If you have something important to inform all members and you don't want them to miss seeing it in case they have not opened their chat view or missed seeing the new message red indicator, choose to send the text message as a broadcast announcement to all room members. Announcements are shown explicitly in a pop-up window on the top right corner of the screen for all room members, regardless whether they are in the main room, in a breakout group, or on their own personal desk space.

Recordings are auto-named with time and date

It is now much easier to keep track of when every recording is made without needing to name every one of them manually, as recordings are now automatically named with the date and start time of recording in the format "Recording DD/MM/YYYY HH:MM Timezone" (the time is given in the 24-hour format)!

More keyboard shortcuts have been added for Pan, Zoom In/Out, as well as switching of colours so that you can draw, write and edit on your documents and sketchpads more quickly and efficiently!

Switching colours when using pen, highlighter, line, rectangle, circle or text (note that you must have the tool selected first)

For general users, it remains just as easy to access your virtual room for a live collaboration session or to work on your own documents. Log onto ClassDo as usual, select the room for your lesson or meeting, and select the room entry mode depending on you wish to do that day.

Hand out instant copies of a master document for every room member's desk

Need to make a copy of a document or send a copy to every other room member? There is now a faster and easier way to do so, without having to manually upload the same document multiple times. Simply click the Content Menu icon for the PDF/image file/sketch pad that you wish to make a copy of, and select either Duplicate or Hand out.

Duplicate: This instantly creates a copy of the document within the same room view or desk in your room. Access the duplicate file [with a filename extension "(copy)"] from the same room or desk library.
Hand out: This instantly sends a copy of the document to other room members in their individual desks. You can choose to hand it out to all other room members' desks or specific members' desks only. Access the handout file [with a filename extension "(username)"] from the relevant desk library(ies). Note: you can hand out a file from the room view to the desk, and from the room host's desk to other room members' desk. But handing out a document from any desk to the room view is not possible.

Welcome to the brand new ClassDo virtual room user interface. Sporting a clean and contemporary look, it now offers a bigger display/work area for your content. You'll also find it easier to locate and access your favourite tools and settings, especially the more frequently used features. Take a quick orientation around your new virtual room below.

1. Manage members' microphone, camera and various video screens in one place

- Member's Name, Internet Strength Indicator, Mic/Camera On/Off, Maximise, Picture-in-picture

Mouse over any member's video to show his or her name. Click to manage his or her microphone and camera (if you have host permission). This is also where you can maximise his or her screens (video chat, screen share or visualiser), or set them as a always-on-top floating window (Picture-in-picture).

2. Ready access to Room Members settings

- Mute Microphone, Video On/Off, Room Members List, Videochat View

Need to mute your own microphone or turn off your own video quicky in the midst of a live collaboration? You can now do so with just a single click as we have moved these frequently used features up to the bottom centre of the virtual room screen.

This central bar of icons is also where you can open the Room Members' List, to see who's already in the room and who is late or absent, and change the room view from Content to Videochat, if all your need is to talk to your collaborators without referring to any files.

3. Edit all content settings from Content [...]

- Name, Allow Download, Download, Delete Content

All functions related to content files are now housed in the Content dialog box indicated by the Additional options button (three dots icon) on the top right corner of your content file.

4. All tools and room settings consolidated under Menu

- Screen Share, Visualiser, Second Device, Recording, Device Settings, Sync Modes

The room tools and settings have been moved to a single Menu where you can access the room's functions and sync settings in one place!

5. Access help in one place

- ClassDo Support live chat, Help Centre

We have relocated our ClassDo Support live chat from the bottom right corner to the top right corner of the virtual room. So, you can now reach either live support or our 24/7 online Help Centre repository from the same place more easily.

And last but not least, to exit the room, just hit the red/white phone icon to end your session.

Desk: your new personal workspace in the virtual room, just like in the physical room

Always wanted to have your personal workspace in the virtual room, where you can write your personal copy of notes privately during live collaboration? Or perhaps you are in a team brainstorming or sprint session, and you need to jot down your ideas privately before you share with the rest of the team?

If you are a teacher, maybe you want to assign an exercise to all your students to do during the lesson and be able to see what each student is writing on his virtual desk and to provide one-to-one coaching in real time, on-demand or where necessary. Or you wish to have your students submit homework to you privately without their individual work being visible to other classmates.

Just like how everyone in the office or classroom has his own workspace or desk to work on privately, all room members in any ClassDo virtual room now have their own individual Desks.

Simply toggle from Room (house icon) to Desk (desk icon), where the contents that you or your host have uploaded can only be seen and edited by the two of you, and not any other room member. Privacy assured!

If you are the host, you can access any of your room member's desks to check the work they have submitted to you, or look at what they are writing in real time. For teachers, especially, this is just like how you can walk right up to your student's desk in the classroom to provide personal coaching!

Better host control of screen share/visualiser activation

Users who do not have permission to start live video collaboration on your own will now need to get approval from the room host before they can start screen share or visualiser livestreaming. If you are the host, you will now receive a notification about screen sharing or visualiser requests on your screen. Once you approve, thescreen share or visualiser livestream will automatically be displayed in a new tab on everyone's screen.

Kickstarting the revamp of our virtual room, Smart Tabs makes accessing files easy and convenient. All your files - be it uploaded contents, sketchpads, typepads, videos, recordings, or polls - are now housed in one streamlined Library.

Whenever you need to open an existing file or create/upload a new file, simply open a new tab, just like how you would do it when browsing the internet. Browse through your Library, just like how you would do it on Microsoft Office applications for instance.

Use the search and filter functions to help you find the files you want to work on for that session, and call them out from the Library onto your deskspace in the virtual room. This way, you can call out only the specific files that are relevant to that particular session. Collaboration on multi-documents has become more efficient with a neater virtual room deskspace!

If you have more than one webcam or microphone connected to your device, and your default webcam or microphone fails to work properly while you are in the midst of a live collaboration session, no need to fret! Want to send notes, reports or readings to the members of the room? Now, you can simply upload them into the room under Content and enable them to be downloaded! There is no need to send images or documents separately, making sure room members always have access to the content when they need it.

Remove members completely from organisation

Organisation owners can now remove members completely from the organisation for better privacy and security purposes. Removed members can no longer see it in the list of organisations that they are part of, nor be invited into a room in the organisation from the "Existing organisation members" list.

Selected default roles have permission to delete any files

If you have a default teacher, tutor, trainer and manager role, you now have greater control over their virtual room content! You can delete any files uploaded under Content, or any sketchpad/typepad/poll created, even if they were not uploaded or created by yourself. Organisation owners can also choose to add this new permission to any other existing role in their organisation under Settings > Manage Roles.

Lock others' video and microphone settings during Presentation mode

As the meeting host or teacher, do you wish to have complete control over your room members' microphones and videos? Now you can, whenever you change the room setting to Presentation mode. Your room members won't be able to unmute themselves after you've muted them, nor turn off their video on their own during Presentation mode. So you can conduct live collaboration uninterrupted while maintaining eye contact with everyone.

Greater room control under Presentation Mode

As a meeting host, trainer or tutor, you can now deliver your presentation more smoothly and without interruptions under Presentation Mode. When the room is set to Presentation mode, members with student, staff or other non-admin roles can no longer upload or create new files, play or pause YouTube videos, copy and paste images, or switch on screen share or visualiser.

Cancel wrongly sent room invitations with ease

If you have accidentally invited the wrong phone number or email address, you can now cancel the room invitation after sending it, as long as the invitee has not signed up for or signed into ClassDo.

ClassDo Chat (beta version)

Leave messages for your room members on ClassDo Chat. In this beta version, use the 'Attach' function in this pre-room chat to upload and share files into the virtual room with one another without having to enter the room. This makes tasks like distributing pre-meeting reading materials and submitting completed homework a breeze!

Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDFs, .jpeg and .png files are all feasible. File attachments in the chat will automatically be synced with and appear under the Content tab inside the virtual room.

Upload, revise and review your documents privately in the new Library mode

As a room member, you can now enter the room via the new "View Library" feature to access your collaboration or learning materials privately, any time you want, without needing your room admin (i.e. meeting host, trainer or teacher) to be in the room with you.

Best of all, everyone belonging to the same room can access the materials concurrently but privately as videochat is disabled in the Library mode. So you can read, review, annotate, type, sketch and upload documents in the Library mode without worrying about accidentally 'bumping' into your co-learners or co-workers! All changes and additions you make to the resources in the Library mode are autosaved, so that you can always access the most updated versions when you resume live collaboration.

If you enter a room for a live collaboration session earlier and your room admin is not in yet, you will be redirected to the Library mode where you can read your materials while waiting for the room admin to enter the room.

When your room admin enters the room while you are in the Library mode, you will be prompted with a message in a pop-up dialog box as to whether you wish to switch to 'Live Collaboration' or remain in the Library mode for your personal revision.

Test your device easily with our built-in Device Checker tool

Not sure if your device is all good to go for you to start collaborating on ClassDo? Simply launch our built-in Device Checked by clicking on "Start Live Collaboration" in your virtual room welcome page, or activating 'Test your device' under your personal settings (right panel). You will be guided step-by-step to test your browser version, webcam, microphone and speaker in a matter of seconds.

Assign multiple room admins

If you are a room admin, you can now appoint another room member to be your covering or co-trainer, co-teacher, or co-meeting host and he or she will have the same admin rights as yourself. Just go to Tools -> Assign Room Members Roles.

Room admins have exclusive rights to activate certain features, such as recording, quick invite, muting others' audio, and switching between interaction modes.

Mouse over any user's videoscreen to display his or her name. This is particularly useful for identifying participants readily in a big group collaboration.

You can also check the strength of your own internet connection with the internet signal strength indicator shown next to your name.

Turn off video

Getting fuzzy videostreaming due to weak internet connection? You can choose to mouse over your videoscreen and turn off your own video to save bandwidth for optimising your audio. You can also activate this feature when you wish to collaborate without showing your face.

If you are a room admin, you can also turn off the video of other room members.

Mute audio

Taking part in a collaboration session in a noisy environment? You can now mute your own audio by mousing over your videoscreen and clicking on the microphone icon. Your videoscreen will become outlined in red to indicate that 'mute' is on. Click on the same icon to unmute yourself.

If you are a room admin, you can also mute and unmute other room members' audio by mousing over their videoscreens.

Disallow content-editing by other room members in Presentation mode

As the room admin, when you turn on the Presentation mode (one way sync), you get to control what everyone sees in the room, and other room members are not allowed to switch screens. With this enhancement, other room members will also not be allowed to edit and annotate on the content.

Better control, more efficient collaboration.

Note: only room admins can change interaction modes between Collaboration/Presentation, Enable Sync/Disable Sync.

Keep selected video always visible on top with 'Picture in Picture' feature

You can now view an uploaded document together with screenshared video, or view someone in a group session more clearly.

Mouse over any room member's video or screenshare/visualiser video that you want prominently displayed on top of other underlying content on your screen, and click on the "Picture in Picture" icon. Your selected video will be duplicated in a bigger pop-up videoscreen, which you can move around and even resize as you wish. Even when you switch between Content/Sketch/Type tabs or files, your selected video will always appear 'floating' on top.

Record your collaboration sessions in HD video/audio

If you are a room admin, you can now choose to record any part of your collaboration session. Unique to ClassDo, our recording feature captures the full interactions of the session, in exactly the same way as you view it on your screen during the session. This means that you will be able to see everyone as well as the content collaboration process in the recorded video.

You can also readily access the recorded videos (stored on ClassDo cloud), download and disseminate them to your room members in any way as you like it!

Turn on recording at Tools -> Recording.

Three types of screen synchronisation

Sync off mode (no sync): This is when you want students to do their work individually, thus every person in the room are looking at different screens.
Presentation mode (one way sync) : Only the room owner (teacher) gets to control what everyone sees in the room. The students are not allowed to switch screens.
Collaboration mode (multi-way sync) : Everyone in the room is allowed to switch screens, and it will be synced across so that everyone is seeing the same thing.

Deleting contents, tabs... etc

You can now delete any documents you have uploaded. Typepads and Sketchpads that you have created can also be deleted.

Note that however, you can only delete what you have created. In the same classroom, if the content was uploaded by someone else, or if the sketch/textpad is created by another person, you cannot delete them.
